Hollandse Club Singapore

Hollandse Club Singapore

22 Camden Park, Singapore 299814, Singapore ,
Discover the heritage of the Hollandse Club. From a once small group of Dutch men congregating for a drink, it has grown into the strong international club it is today. Let us walk you down memory lane to look at the foundations and milestones of the Club's former days. The Dutch community in Singapore has been around for a long time. As far back as the nineteenth century Dutch people were working for companies here. At that time, people were sent abroad by their employer for six to eight years, this meant for many, life in Singapore had a much greater impact than it does today. Back then there was no air-conditioning to cool Western heads from the tropical heat, annual home leave was out of the question and only every four years could you leave Singapore for a few months. Even by the early twentieth century, the decision to travel home meant choosing between a boat trip of three weeks or a very expensive flight of three days. Family and friends were rarely seen. The Hollandse Club is an International Club with over 40 nationalities and fun place for the whole family. It's what leisure time in Singapore is all about, and at the Hollandse Club, you'll find an environment dedicated to enjoyment and relaxation for adults and children alike. The Hollandse Club, (or Dutch Club as it's sometimes called), is ideally located amidst tropical surroundings just off Adam Road. It's your private Oasis in the Heart of Town! It offers an exceptional range of sports & recreation facilities and dining.

Our Mission: To Assist the Needy, Bond the People, Connect the Community Our Vision: An inclusive, vibrant and self-reliant Central Singapore Community Our Values: At Central Singapore CDC, we are Passionate, Approachable, Creative and strive for Excellence in our work. These core values anchor the work we do, and guide us towards the results we seek. Our Work: Led by the Mayor of Central Singapore District, Mr Sam Tan Chin Sion, the Central Singapore CDC serves as the first stop for active citizenry and community initiatives at the local neighbourhood level. As Part of the People's Association (PA), we build social capital by bringing people from different backgrounds closer to each other, and creating opportunities for groups to meet, exchange ideas, and strengthen the community through local solutions to social issues. We provide financial and employment assistance to needy residents in the Central Singapore District, where more than two-thirds of Singapore's one-to two-room HDB rental flats are located. We administer a broad range of community programmes targeted at low-income families, vulnerable elderly residents, and residents with special needs, which allow the more able to assist the less able through volunteerism and philanthropy. We seek to assist our needy residents in a warm, timely and flexible manner. The CDC also provides funding and matching grants for community programmes initiated by grassroots organisations, voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs), educational and corporate institutions. Our Stakeholders: Our stakeholders and partners are varied but always at the heart of our work. We help residents in financial need, support grassroots organisations in building social cohesion and connect community players such as voluntary welfare organisations, schools and corporate citizens. Through all our diverse areas of work, something never changes: we bring in the community to provide solutions to social issues. We firmly believe that Life's better for all, when everyone lends a hand! Our District: We assist, bond and connect the 975,000 residents of the Central Singapore District through our community initiatives. More than a third of our residents are aged 50 and above, living in a mature housing estates. Central Singapore has the highest proportion of low-income residents, but is also home to some of the most resourceful segments of our population. The District covers the modern Central Business District and shopping areas of Orchard Road, and yet still retains its rich historic areas of Kampong Glam, Chinatown, and Little India. Diversity is our strength - this is where the old meets the new, and the more able step up to help the less able.

Bridge Builders Singapore

Bridge Builders Singapore

127 Marshal Road, Singapore ,
“We all cannot be great scientists, artists, teachers. But we all can be a blessing to those around us.” These beautiful words said by our beloved Master, Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani inspire us on this humble journey to help as many as we can, as efficiently as we can and as lovingly as we can. Bridge Builders Singapore is the youth wing of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. It is a group of youngsters (young at heart), dedicated to be instruments in His divine hands, in the service of a broken, bleeding world. Just as one flower cannot make a garland; all flowers must come together to make one, so have all of us, come together to help build this bridge of love and compassion. As our beloved Dada says: So bless me, Lord, that I may never forget that I am but a broken instrument in Thy Hands. Thou art the One Worker: and Thy works are ever the works of mercy. All glory be unto Thee! O Lord, grant that I may live and move and have my being in Thee. May I never forget Thou art my Refuge and Resting place. With one hand may I cling to Thy Lotus Feet and, with the other, discharge my duties – and serve the poor and forlorn, in this world of tragedy and tears. O Lord, grant me a heart that may beat with every human heart; may weep with every human tear; may sing with every human song; may delight with every human rapture; may regard the woes of creatures as its own – a heart that may unite me to all creation!
