Community Cultural Development - Singapore

90 Goodman Road, Block B, #05-02, Singapore ,
In 2010, Community Cultural Development (Singapore), or CCD (Singapore) for short, started out in the Substation as an informal web-based collective of artists and practitioners that met on a periodic for workshops and sharing sessions to learn about the practice of arts in the community from each other. The website also sought to archive and document CCD-related activities in Singapore. The sessions were well received and in 2012, the team that organized the first Community Cultural Development Symposium with the support of Singapore Polytechnic and Universo Asia. This was the first time regional and local artists that worked closely with the community got together in one place to share and discuss their practice. From the feedback, the team realized that in order to better develop the practice of CCD in Singapore, more needed to be done and on a regular basis and in November 2012, CCD (Singapore) registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee in the Republic of Singapore.
